Pixar and a Hero's Journey

How does the main character in your favorite Pixar movie go through the hero's journey? What are the connections?             One of my favorite Pixar movies is Toy Story 2. In this movie, a toy collector named Al McWhiggin steals Woody from Andy's family at a garage sale. Al then takes Woody to his apartment, where he has an entire Sheriff Woody collection. It is in Al's apartment that Woody meets Jessie, Bullseye, and Stinky Pete. They tell Woody that they've been in his apartment for years, but they would finally be able to leave thanks to Woody. Al McWhiggin was planning on selling the entire collection to someone in Japan. Woody didn't want to go to Japan, instead he wanted to return home to Andy. Toy Story 2 consists of Woody attempting to get back home to Andy, and bringing a few new friends back with him.             The characters in Toy Story 2  do in fact go through the steps on a hero's journey. Harry Potter and The Hero's Journey

Almost every scene in the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone can be related to the hero's journey. However, there is one scene in particular that I believe to be very important, this is the reptile house scene. At the beginning of the Sorcerer's Stone movie, Harry Potter, his aunt, uncle, and cousin Dudley visit the zoo for Dudley's birthday. Once they reach the zoo, Dudley becomes fascinated with the snake exhibit. His fascination quickly turns into disappointment when he realizes the snake isn't moving; Dudley then exits the exhibit, leaving Harry alone with the snake. To his surprise, Harry is able to communicate with the snake, their conversation prompts the snake to begin moving. Once Dudley becomes aware of the snake's movement, he pushes Harry away from the exhibit so he can observe the snake. All of a sudden, the glass from the snake exhibit disappears, causing Dudley to fall in and become trapped.         ...

Technology in the Classroom

How could you as a student benefit from having a school-provided iPad? How would this change your classes? How would this change the way you learn?             I believe that myself and other students could potentially benefit from the use of school-provided iPads. If we were to have iPads available to us during school, we would have access to a digital version of our textbooks. This would eliminate the purpose of using physical textbooks and having to constantly stop at our lockers. Using these devices would also make many useful apps and programs available to us during school. For example, if we weren't able to grasp a certain topic in class, we would be able to use a program on the iPads to help us better understand it.             Having iPads available during school would either make my classes better or worse. This is because the iPads would help some students and distract others. Some students would properly use the d...

What is a hero to you? Has you opinion on hero's changed since we began discussing this topic? A hero is someone who is selfless, courageous, and usually kind. They help others and do not expect or ask for anything in return. A hero doesn't necessarily have to be someone that is well known, a hero can be someone that you know personally. No, my opinion on hero's hasn't changed since we began discussing this topic. I still don't think a hero has to be someone like Superman, a hero is someone who devotes their lives to selflessly helping others.
