Research paper: More research
What topic are you most passionate about? List works/texts you plan on using for your project. Research and list modern texts from the same culture/ civilization. Generate a list of questions you will be using for your research and reading.
The culture that I am most passionate about researching is Puerto Rican literature. I am planing on using some of the works created by Rene Marques in my research project because, he is one of the most well known and established Puerto Rican writers. In particular, I plan on using Rene Marques' "La Carreta" because it depicts Puerto Rico's poor economic state and why many Puerto Ricans moved to the U.S. I also plan on using some works by Antonio S. Pedreira because, he wrote about life in puerto Rico and how it changed after it had been under control of the U.S for over 30 years. Some modern works of Puerto Rican literature include, having Rene Marques' play "La Coretta" be performed as an off broadway play in 1966 called, "The Oxcart".
Some questions I will be using for my research and reading include:
- Who were the most influential writers in Puerto Rican literature?
- What piece of Puerto Rican literature do people believe to be most important?
- What is the "earliest" piece of Puerto Rican literature/ first person to be well known for their work?
